31 Days of Logos; An Inktober Experiment
Self Initiated; Identity Design, Illustration, Social Media.
Jake Parker created Inktober in 2009 as a challenge to improve his inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. It has since grown into a worldwide endeavor with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year. In previous years, I participated as an illustrator doing ink drawings; Some years I completed all 31 prompts, other years I failed.
I set out to combine the challenge of a daily drawing prompt with a logo design. I considered allowing myself artistic license to do something remotely relative to the prompts, but then decided to βup the anteβ and hold myself to the following rule:
Every logo prompt MUST display the prompt word WHILE demonstrating something relative to the prompt. Whether it be thematic, literal depiction, or hintedβ¦
The 31 Days of October 2020 resulted in the following logos; I wanted to use this exercise as a way to cast a broad net over the many applications of branding and challenge my ability to design under time constraints and unconventional pressures.
This, and many other self-initiated projects can also be followed on my Instagram, @Oneinkymess.
